Hey yall, my name's Robby and i just bought the original GW game today per the advice of a friend. i've never been a fan of MMORPG's, but today i broke down and decided to give this one a shot. i've played it for a few hours now and so far i've been pleasantly surprised. it's actually wuite fun.

but anyways, i just thought i'd drop by here and introduce myself. my player's name is Talana Neya, she's a Elementalist/Ranger, as i prefer ranged and (traditional) magic attacks.

Welcome to GW. If you don't like MMORPG because of grinding, GW won't make you disappointed. It is CORPG.
On this forum you can find many great guides for starter in every class, which will help a lot.
And you should also find a guild to make friends and get help from them when necessary.

k i don't know what grinding is, but i guess it's a bad thing? my friend was also sayin somethin about that when i asked if everquest was any good.

i'm gonna get a few more levels on my own, then i'll prolly join my friend's guild.

Uh, grinding is when you do a set of repeated actions which are necessary for you to achieve your goal.

I.e. KILL 400 SHADOW GODS TO ADVANCE TO THE NEXT TOWN.

Grinding is different from farming, which is a set of repeated actions to achieve the desired amount of money. It's not mandatory to have a billion dollars in Guild Wars to be successful.

Hi, have fun playing. Try making a PvP char at the same time, then you can play both sides as you go along. PvP is a great part of the game, don't miss out.

GW is a great choice for your first MMORPG it is interesting enough to keep you playing for over a year and with all the new chapters you won't get bored fast

Do yourself a favor and dont read too much about the game before you play it.
Half the fun is figuring out the lay of the land and not taking the shortcuts.
Make sure you watch the cutscenes no matter how much people will bitch about skipping them. They probably watched them their first time through too.
If you need help or want someone to quest with you can look me up in game.
